"A stunning reference point for what can be achieved in the Cotes du Ventoux, the 2009 l’Argile is a blend75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 5% Carignan and 5% Cinsault aged 30 months in concrete tanks prior to being bottled unfiltered. The 2009 l’Argile exhibits a flowery yet quintessentially Provencal set of aromatics that smells like an open-air marketplace. Abundant red and black fruits, roasted herb, garrigue, licorice, lavender and spring flower aromas are followed by an opulent, rich wine with full-bodied power as well as incredible complexity and density. This is one of the most intriguing, individualistic wines I have tasted this year. Drink it over the next 5-7 years.
Winemaker/proprietor Philippe Gimel was a pharmacist until he discovered that his love of wine eclipsed anything he had done before, so he apprenticed at the estates of Jean-Louis Chave in Mauves and Christopher Sabon’s Domaine la Janasse, two of the finest estates in France" 94 point.

"From his organic/biodynamically farmed vineyard, this blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, and the rest Carignan and Cinsault, is outrageously delicious. Aged 18 months in oak tank and neutral oak, the wine has a dense purple color and a wonderfully sweet nose of acacia flowers, lavender, roasted meats, black raspberries and creme de cassis. Superb fruit on the attack follows through on the mid-palate and finish. Beautifully textured, pure, and opulent, this is a stunning wine from a great vintage that has just been released. Et ord der beskriver Philippe Gimel er "passioneret". Kendskabet til vinene, jordbunden og fremstillingen er meget stor og kyndig. Et tidligere job som ønolog på Chateau Beaucastel sætter sine tydelige spor.
Vinmarker er beliggende mellem de to berømte bjerge Dentelles de Montmirail og Mont Ventoux, placeringen på skråningerne giver et ideel klima med kulde, sollys og den berømte mistral. Undergrunden er meget stenet Oligocéne (deraf navnet på rødvinen) fra den tertiære tid, meget komplekst men utrolig fattig undergrund, høstudbyttet er ca.1/3 af områdets normale: 20 hl pr. ha
Der tages megen hensyn til flora og fauna, og der benyttes kun organisk gødning og ukrudtsmiddel. Vinstokkenes gennemsnitlige alder er 25 år, og der benyttes de klassiske røde og hvide druer. De optimalt modne druer plukkes og sorteres manuelt og 80% afstilkes for bedste tannin balance.
