"Dopff's 2018 Grand Cru Schoenenbourg Riesling comes from deep, marly gypsum soils in Riquewihr where the steep, long Schoenenbourg is the background prospect of this beautiful, old commune. The wine is always subtle yet deep and complex on the elegant nose, like here where the concentrated Riesling fruit and lemon aromas intermingle with earthy, flinty and iodine notes. On the palate, this is a full-bodied rich, savory and vital mineral Riesling with a delicate roundness and finesse that uplifts this voluptuous 2018. The finish is lush, intense, pure and saline, with fine tannins and stimulating bitters. It's a serious grand cru with some structural features of Pinot Noir. 13.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Vingården Dopff au Moulin ligger ved indgangen til middelalderbyen Riquewihr i Alsace. Familien har lavet vin her siden 1600-tallet, og vinfremstillingstraditionen er gået i arv i 12 generationer. Familiens interesse for vin går dog helt tilbage til 1574.
Domænets historie begynder i slutningen af det 17. århundrede, da Jean-Daniel Dopff, præstens søn, slog sig ned i byen og arbejdede som bager. Hans søn Balthazard-George, født i 1667 i Liquewi, blev interesseret i vinfremstilling. Han blev dermed den første person, der knyttede Dopf-familiens efternavn til vinproduktion i Riquewihr.
At producere de bedste vine af de bedste druer har altid været målet for denne familievirksomhed, som gennem flere generationer har udviklet sig til en af de førende vinproducenter i Alsace-regionen. Fra begyndelsen har alle i familien været passionerede omkring vindyrkning, mens ældgamle produktionsmetoder forbliver i harmoni med nye teknologier.
