Monbousquet, St Emilion Grand Cru, Bordeaux, Frankrig

Beskrivelse:

Robert Parker i The Wine Advocate 153 Jun 2004
"The home estate of Chantal and Gerard Perse, the 2001 Monbousquet (a 7,500-case blend of 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon bottled unfined and unfiltered) is a big, flamboyant, sexy offering with a dense ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet nose of licorice, dried herbs, smoke, black currants, and blackberries. Beautifully textured, medium to full-bodied, opulent, and forward, this is a juicy, succulent, seductive claret to drink over the next 10-12 years. Drink 2004-2016."

Robert Parker i The Wine Advocate 146 Apr 2003
"An amazingly concentrated effort for the vintage, the 2001 offers smoky, super-ripe, jammy red and black fruits that are almost candied in their ripeness and sweetness. Infused with notes of espresso, smoke, charcoal, and pain grille, this is a rich, exotic, opulent, and pure effort. Nevertheless, it possesses plenty of tannin as well as more definition than most young vintages of Monbousquet. It is a surprisingly full-bodied, chewy wine for a 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018."

Robert Parker i The Wine Advocate 140 Apr 2002
"The 2001 is an amazingly concentrated effort for the vintage. Yields were 30 hectoliters per hectare, and the wine was fermented in small steel as well as oak vats. It was aged in 100% new oak, and will be bottled with neither fining nor filtration. The blend is 60% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine offers smoky, super-ripe, jammy red and black fruits that are almost candied in their ripeness and sweetness. The wine is infused with notes of espresso, smoke, charcoal, and pain grill. This is a rich, exotic, opulent, and pure effort. Nevertheless, it possesses plenty of tannin as well as more definition than most young vintages of Monbousquet. Is it better than the 2000, 1999, or 1998? I don't see how it can be, and it is too soon to say for sure, but it is certainly in the same qualitative league.
What can one say about the wines produced at Monbousquet since the mid-nineties? Under the administration of Chantal and Gerard Perse, this has become one of Bordeaux's most flamboyant, exotic, and sexiest offerings. Seemingly not content with the marvelous efforts from 1998, 1999, and 2000, Perse has gone over-the-top in terms of trying to get even more extraction from 2001. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2018."

Wine Spectator
"Silky and caressing, with medium body, tobacco, berry character and a medium finish. Should develop nicely with bottle age. Best after 2007. 7,500 cases made. -JS"
