"The 2012 Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets will be matured in 35% new oak. It displays fine volume on the floral-scented nose that bears semblances to the Fixin La Place -12, but with more vigor and intensity. The palate is fresh and vibrant with very fine tannins. It needs a little more flesh toward the finish, but that oak will fill in some of those gaps. Brisk and lively in the mouth, give this young pup 18 months in bottle after release". 90-92 point

"The 2011 Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets comes from a 0.32-hectare parcel bought by the family in 1984. It has a lifted bouquet with perfumed strawberry, blueberry and violet scents that are well-defined. The palate is medium-bodied with a ripe, supple opening. The acidity is nicely judged with moderate complexity. Harmonious right to the finish, though quite linear and conservative, this is a fine Chambolle for early drinking. Drink now-2017.

I have met Guillaume Tardy a few times in London, but this was the first time that I dropped by at his winery on the Route Nationale in Vosne (word of warning for first-time visitors: blink and you will miss the sign.) The roots of the domaine stem from his family’s metiers for Domaine Meo-Camuzet and as Jean-Nicolas Meo regained control, the Tardy family had to effectively rebuild their own domaine. So Jean Tardy began acquiring small vineyard parcels, though never less than a plot that could regularly yield six barrels per vintage in order for them to be worth bottling on their own. Guillaume himself started working with his father in 1997 but his first vintage was 2001, after working at the Picardy Winery in Australia. His 2011s were bottled in February. Guillaume told me that he is looking for silky tannins and freshness and that neatly sums up his wines that I have praised in the past and have no hesitation in doing so again

"Quite deep in colour, the Les Athets has a gorgeous ripe vanilla-tinged bouquet with redcurrants, raspberries and a touch of violet. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, slightly gritty tannins. There is very good weight and it is very focused, and then it eases off the accelerator leaving a very elegant finish. Excellent." 91-93 Point

"Deep ruby. A gentle touch of wood frames the ripe, complex and attractively complex nose featuring both red and blue pinot fruit that also displays tinges of violets, spice and earth. The textured medium-bodied flavors possess good dry extract that buffers the moderately firm shaping tannins on the nicely lingering finish. This is a very fine villages that has a good track record for rewarding mid-term cellaring" 89 Point

Domaine Tardy
Historien om Domaine Tardy begynder i 1920, hvor Victor Tardy begynder at arbejde for Domaine Camuzet. Victor får 25 år senere af Etienne Camuzet tilladelse til at forpagte et par vinmarker. I 1966 overtager Jean driften fra sin far, hvor han udvider med flere vinmarker (Clos Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges 1. Cru, Vosne-Romanée 1. Cru) fra Meo-Camuzet, igen i henhold til en aktie-afgrøde aftale.

I 1981 begynder Jean at købe egne vinmarker. Indkøbene kulminerer med de tre landsbyvinmarker: Chambolle-Musigny i 1984, Nuits-Saint-Georges i 1989 og Vosne-Romanée i 1999. Derudover blev endnu én metayage (forpagtning) deal lavet i 2002 af en parcel i Echezeaux. De seneste erhvervelser er Fixin (første årgang 2006) og i 2007 har han også skaffet parceller i Gevrey-Chambertin og i Hautes-Côtes de Nuits. I 2010 tilføjede så Nuits St. Georges 1. Cru Aux Argillas til porteføljen.

I 2001 får Jean's søn Guillaume overdraget ansvaret for vinfremstillingen. Baggrunden er i orden da han har læst på VITI i Beaune og University of Oenology i Dijon efterfulgt af otte måneders arbejde som assisterende vinmager i Australien.

Guillaume arbejder på samme traditionelle måde som sin far, men laver dog nogle subtile ændringer i retning af hans egen mere moderne stil, evolution og ikke revolution. Der startes med pløjning mellem vinrækkerne, der bruges nu naturlig gødning i stedet for kemikalier. Høstudbyttet nedsættes til 35-40 hl. pr. ha. Der benyttes flere nye fade i kælderen end før. Guillaume er meget stolt af sine vine og det med rette grund.

Domaine Tardy er en "Rising Star" i Vosne, og den verdenskendte restauratør Alain Ducasse har nu også fået øjnene op for Tardy's fremragende vine fra Vosne Romanee, Nuit St. Georges og Echezaux. De er nu at finde på hans franske restauranter.
