Domaine Joseph Voillot, Bourgogne, Frankrig
Beskrivelse:
Neil Martin i The Wine Advocate
"Tasted from tank: ripe brambly black fruit on the nose intermingled with dark cherry. Good definition. The palate has a lot of energy and tension, racy acidity with dark cherry and blueberry towards the finish. Everything you expect from a good Bourgogne Rouge. Drink now-2015."

Note: from a parcel of vines located near Volnay; Charlot indicated that he normally makes 50 barrels and in 2008, he made 22 because of the hail
Producer note: Jean-Pierre Charlot explained that 2008 was "difficult in much the same ways as were 2006 and 2007. The summer weather wasn't great and even though there wasn't necessarily a lot of rain, it rained a little bit often, which kept things constantly damp. Thus, on one of the rare days when it was dry, you absolutely had to be in your vineyards even if it was a weekend. Thankfully, in the middle of September, clear and sunny weather arrived along with a firm north wind, which frankly saved the harvest. After that it was a question of how careful your sorting was because rot was a problem as was hail here in parts of Volnay, especially Caillerets and in our parcel of Bourgogne where we lost more than 50% of the crop. We also got hit in Champans but not nearly as badly. Despite the challenges, the wines have turned out surprisingly well and some of them are really quite good." Charlot did not present the Caillerets and probably will not release it.
Tasting note: An earthy and rather somber dark berry fruit nose introduces nicely rich, concentrated and round flavors that firm up on the slightly gassy finish. While this will be approachable young, I would suggest decanting it first. 85 Point
